May Knitting at Madrone
with Rhonda Rungsitiyakorn
Saturday, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 2025
11:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Madrone Arts is pleased to host its winter knitting series of four Saturday sessions (March 1, 8, 15, 22). The class is suitable for those with no experience to knitters with intermediate skills.
In this class, inexperienced and beginning students will learn to knit and purl, and how to cast on and cast off. These four techniques are very powerful and will let students design and make beautiful items of their own choosing. Instruction for more experienced students may be personalized according to skill level. Time permitting, students may become familiar with how to read patterns.
Practice materials will be provided, but students will be expected to purchase materials for their personal projects. The instructor will assist in selecting a design and identifying materials that will work best for personal student projects.
By the end of this short workshop, students will be able to knit some fun and basic items.

Healing Through Self Portaits
with Maria Mattioli
Sunday, May 18th 2025
1:00 - 4:00 PM
In this workshop, participants will create a self-portrait following a guided step-by-step process. Following that, they will answer a list of questions that are designed to stimulate self-awareness and connection to intuition. The third step in this process is to include the fruits of self-inquiry into a final portrait of themselves. In a supportive and respectful environment participants will explore their personal story and expand self-awareness and self-expression. Participants will have an opportunity to present their work to the group.
This workshop is open to anyone interested in exploring themselves through creativity. By creating a healing self-portrait, participants will be encouraged to cultivate their imagination in order to tap into feelings, experiences, and perceptions of the world and their place in it. Through this process and in sharing one’s story with others, participants may experience less stress by finding a deeper sense of self-acceptance.
This class is intended for adults 18+
Maria Mattioli is a Marriage and Family Therapist, educator, and a teacher of process painting for 20 years. It is her deep belief that everyone holds an inner source of creativity and self-expression.
